June 12, 2008 OK, so maybe I didn’t always transfer them into bins with lids and neatly label them. So maybe I dumped them all into one box, and tucked it away for SOMEDAY to organize. That coulda happened, but I’m not saying. What I AM saying is that the years in which I DID organize my children’s papers were stellar years for me. It is fun to look back at those scribbley pictures and remember the pudgy fingers and sticky kisses that came with them. There is no sweeter time in life, and you’ll want to remember it. I treasure each thing I’ve saved, with the exception of the macaroni art, which has long been eaten by moths. Today’s Small Thing is to sort and store your child’s papers from this year. Now, I realize that this can be much more than a 10 minute small task, so I’m willing to stretch this out a little bit. Perhaps do a 10 minute assessment of the paper situation and decide on a course of action. A file? A bin? A U Haul? Consider your storage capabilities and keep enough of the good ones to remember the year. POINTS: 40 for following the paper trail to a fitting conclusion. You can follow through with the solution at a later day this week, as it may need a trip to WalMart for storage solutions. And speaking of school days, one of our newest Company Girls, Heidi, has created a wonderful keepsake binder called “Memory Mates.” I wish these were around when my kids were in the Elementary grades, because she’s taken the work out of creating a scrapbook for your child. I never would have procrastinated like I did if it could have been this easy then. (sob!) It was so much harder in the olden days. Heidi says, “Many parents don’t have a lot of time to scrapbook with busy schedules nowadays, and this book simply allows you to attach a few pictures and let your child fill in the blanks and it looks fabulous when finished. The colors and theme are already there for you-ready to go.” I think this is a wonderful product, just perfect for saving the best memories from each school year. Thank you Heidi, for creating it. I hope our Company Girls will go check you out! Posted at 06:00 AM in Sanctuary’s in the Small Things!
